5 men and a woman were handcuffed by the police for conducting and participating in illegal games of chance
6 citizens (five men and a woman) were arrested late on the evening of Thursday, December 22, in the area of the Municipality of Rethymno, by police officers of the Rethymno Security Sub-Directorate in collaboration with police officers of the Rethymno Police Operations Department, for carrying out and participating in illegal games of chance.
In particular, in the context of controls, which are carried out to combat the phenomenon of illegal games of chance, yesterday (22.12.2022) past midnight hours by police officers of the above Services, a check was carried out in a shop-cafe in the area of the Municipality of Rethymnon owned by a citizen who was absent.
During the audit, it was established that the national, as the temporary manager of the business, had allowed 5 nationals to participate in the implementation of the prohibited game of chance ‘DICE-DICE’ with the conclusion of a monetary bet and they were arrested.
In a check carried out on those arrested and in a search carried out in the premises of the store, the following were found and confiscated in total:
the sum of 2,040 euros as coming from or destined for the performance of the game of chance and
2 pairs of dice
The preliminary investigation is carried out by the Rethymnon Security Directorate.
