With the announcement of the tragic accident of the Greek tourist bus that happened earlier in Bucharest, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias, immediately contacted the Embassy of Greece in Romania, Sofia Grammata, where the Greek Embassy asked her to assist the passengers and to remain by the side of the injured Greeks and their relatives for as long as this is required.

In addition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs contacted relatives of the injured, where he conveyed his wishes for a speedy recovery and his assurance that the Greek Embassy will assist them in every possible way. He reiterated his deepest sorrow for the loss of life of a Greek citizen.

It is noted that there was a telephone conversation between the Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Romanian counterpart, Bogdan Aurescu, in order to thank him for the immediate response of the Romanian authorities and the excellent cooperation they have with the Greek Embassy in Bucharest in dealing with this difficult situation.

One dead, three seriously injuredand 24 hospitalized in local hospitals, is the account of the accident with the Greek coach according to an official statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs earlier.

There were 47 Greeks on board the bus, including two children, who were not injured, but were taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons. The bus driver apparently misjudged the height of an iron warning arch before an underpass, and fell into it, causing the arch to fall onto the roof of the bus and crush it.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.

“According to information from the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest, today, a tourist bus accident with 47 Greek passengers and a Greek driver took place in the Romanian capital.

Upon notification of the Emergency Department of the Romanian Ministry of Interior, 24 of the passengers were taken to local hospitals for examination and possible first aid.

Of the above, 3 are hospitalized in serious condition.

Unfortunately, a bus passenger ended up.

The remaining passengers have been transferred to a hotel.

A team from the Embassy of Greece in Bucharest immediately rushed to the scene of the incident and then to the hospitals where the aforementioned Greek citizens are being treated.

Also, Embassy officials remain at the hospitals to offer all possible assistance to the injured.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its deepest condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
