The festive “love meals” will be repeated on New Year’s Eve and Day.
The Municipality of Athens distributed celebratory meals that reached the homeless shelters, but also on the streets of the city through the Street Work teams of the Municipality’s Reception and Solidarity Center (KYADA).
On Christmas Eve, a total of 1,200 “meals of love” were distributed, accompanied by appetizers and traditional sweets, which were donated by the company MEGA S.A., while with the same procedure, today, Christmas day, an additional 1,200 full, hot meals were offered meals – donated by Lidl Hellas – in places where there are homeless people and people in need.
“Not everyone is lucky enough to have a warm home and a plate of food at Christmas. That is why we are here, at the Multipurpose Homeless Center, to help support our fellow human beings in need with dignity. Not only at Christmas but 365 days a year! We hope this year no one will be on the road. Happy New Year to all!” the mayor of Athens Kostas Bakoyannis says in a post on social networks.
