Driving is not only dangerous but prohibited.

One sees vehicles that have been abandoned, so the authorities during Christmas Day will try to get close to those in need of rescue.

According to the mayor of Buffalo there are still 200 people who remain trapped.

“There were times when I felt like I was going to die from the cold. It was three, four times,” says a citizen

The temperature touched in some of their states – 48 degrees Celsius. The roads became impassable.

Even the snow plows were stopped.

In Ohio, a 50-car pileup resulted in 4 deaths and 20 injuries.

Cars go wild with drivers unable to control them. The rescue crews are impossible to reach for three hours.

In Virginia a resident tries to open his car which is covered in ice.

The ice breaks into thousands of pieces along with the car window.

An estimated 1.5 million Americans were left without power.

Those who had generators offered their fellow citizens a plate of hot food.

“We made meatballs with tomato sauce. It’s delicious and hot. We filled the bags with food. It’s not just me, it’s all of us, we’re all doing it together,” says the Virginia resident.

At the airports the situation is chaotic with 20,000 flights canceled in the last three days.

“We waited in a line for three hours. It was awful,” comments a traveler.

“I was told there are no flights from Southwest today and tomorrow. I’ll be going home I guess,” says another.

In Buffalo hundreds of cars are abandoned on the street.

Their owners left to save themselves

“People are leaving their homes and going to places where there are generators. The blizzard is over but it’s coming back from the south, so we’re nowhere near the end of this situation,” said resident Red Timmer.

In Michigan citizens are trying to save the horses by taking them to a safe haven.

A water main breaks in Tennessee. The splashing water turns to ice in seconds.

In Chicago, the thermometer reached -30 degrees Celsius but that didn’t stop some fans from even taking blankets to watch the Chicago Bears game.

“You know what. We all had a good time and had fun. It was warm. We sat close to each other,” comments a resident.

According to the weather forecast, the low temperatures will continue until the middle of next week.
