Sanitation levels tied the meats before they were put on the market
Over five tons of meat were seized by the competent audit services of the Attica Region during health checks at the festive market.
According to data from the Region, between December 11 and 22, a total of 1024 checks were carried out in retail stores, street markets, plant and animal food establishments and businesses, as well as 42 checks in slaughterhouses.
The checks resulted in 15 seizures with which a total of 5,677 kg of meat was seized and meat products while 90 compliance recommendations were made.
At the same time, in corresponding controls carried out by the competent Health Control and Environmental Health Directorates during the same period, 1,566 businesses were checked and compliance recommendations were made to 754, while it was found 15 violations for which fines were imposed.
In addition, the competent services inspected 1,249 businesses for compliance with measures against Covid-19 and 68 recommendations were made, while in controls for the implementation of anti-smoking legislation, 70 compliance recommendations were made in a total of 1,207 controls.
It should be noted that the Regional Governor of Attica, G. Patoulis, has asked the relevant levels of the Region to intensify the relevant controls on the market throughout the holidays with the aim of protecting consumers and traders from phenomena of violation of the institutional framework and disposal of dangerous for public health products.
