If the end-of-year hustle didn’t leave much time to plan the New Year’s Eve party, all is not lost — São Paulo is huge and so is its list of last-minute options for New Year’s Eve.
After two years of strict rules to contain Covid-19 and a lot of insecurity regarding roles involving crowds, this year —despite the disease still circulating around the world— the climate is more festive and post-pandemic. These are events for all tastes and budgets, so that no one can stop celebrating New Year’s Eve.
The options range from traditional events, such as New Year’s Eve on Avenida Paulista, which this year will feature attractions such as Xamã and Fafá de Belém, to New Year’s Eve premieres, such as the Aurora 360º party, which takes place on a rooftop.
There is also no shortage of music to rock the night. On the list there are parties for those who enjoy a samba circle, with Samba do Sol, and also house and techno at Jerome. Check out, below, the festivities that enliven the last day of the year in São Paulo.
Aurora 360º
This is the first edition of the party, which takes place on a rooftop with a 360º view of the city of São Paulo, Ilha 360. During the event, which starts at 10 pm, the soundtrack is provided by DJs such as Kiko Franco, Carola and Bruno Dun, in addition to other attractions. The food menu includes starters, salads, side dishes, roasted meats, late-night snacks and breakfast served until 6am. Partygoers can choose from drinks made with gin, vodka and whiskey, or even opt for ready-made drinks like beer.

Bar Brahma
Symbol of São Paulo’s bohemia, Bar Brahma holds its traditional New Year’s party, with exclusive dinner, open bar and live music. The menu includes snacks such as cod fritters, mini pastries and tapioca dadinho. The musical program is made up of a samba school, in addition to other Brazilian traditions and pop music. The environment is divided into the main hall, with a blue and yellow track, a mezzanine and a balcony.

Mahau
The Maori-inspired ballad bar celebrates New Year’s Eve at the event called Happy New Year 2023. Starting at 8 pm, the party is animated by singer Renan Augusto, by the Rosas de Ouro samba school and DJs. During the event, the house serves original and classic drinks such as Mahau gin and tonic, moscow mule and negroni, as well as Chandon to toast during the turn of the year moment. The food menu also accompanies the entire duration of the party, serving options for appetizers, starters, main courses and even breakfast.

Tangará Palace
The luxury hotel in the Burle Marx park organizes a New Year’s party to match the venue. The celebration takes place in the space’s largest hall, with terraces facing the park, where dishes signed by chef Filipe Rizzato will be served. Reservations are available for BRL 2,900 per person. Another option offered by the hotel is the New Year’s Eve dinner at the Tangará Jean-Georges restaurant, also signed by the chef, which has a six-course tasting menu. In this case, the reservation costs BRL 3,200 per person. At both parties, the soundtrack for the evening is provided by the band SOS and DJ Gustavo Frigori.

New Year’s Eve Bourbon Street 2023
It is under the theme One Night in Hollywood that the jazz house enters 2023 —with lots of music and a neat menu of food and drinks. The party, which costs R$1,110 per person, includes concerts by singer Bibba Chuqui and The Soundtrackers and a set by DJ Crizz. The menu, with starters, main courses and desserts, is inspired by Cajun and Creole cuisine, typical of Louisiana, and also includes a breakfast to close the party. To wet your beak, the house offers an open bar of draft beer and premium beer, red label, gin and tonic and caipirinha, as well as a sparkling wine toast at New Year’s Eve. Those new to mysticism will still be able to consult with a fortune teller who is available to the public who wants to find out what 2023 will be like.

Paulista’s New Year’s Eve
The traditional New Year’s Eve party on the city’s most famous avenue is a good option for those who don’t want to spend money and do well with crowds. Under the theme O Momento do Reencontro —which refers to the years spent at home because of the pandemic—, the party runs from 5 pm to 2 am with shows and silent fireworks. Names such as Fafá de Belém, Xamã, Leonardo and the Mancha Verde samba school are scheduled for the event.

Jerome’s New Year’s Eve
The party at the famous nightclub in Consolação only starts after midnight, but continues until dawn with resident DJs Felipe Venancio, DJ Mau Mau and Marina Dias putting their best foot forward with house and techno.

sun samba
For those who want to spend New Year’s Eve to the rhythm of samba, the Samba do Sol party is the right option. This is the third edition of the event, and this year it features a samba circle with Fabiana Bombom and DJ Hum, one of the pioneers of hip-hop in Brazil. The ten-hour night promises 15 tables with four seats — those who want to guarantee them must arrive by 10 pm to make the reservation. There are still tickets available on Instagram and 80 units will be sold at the door of the event.
