A drug trafficking ring in Athens was dismantled: the leader and 3 other people were arrested

A criminal organization was dismantled by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate of the Attica Security Directorate, whose members were active in the possession, storage and trafficking of narcotics in the greater Athens area.

A total of 4 people were arrested for the case, of which 3 were members of the central core of the organization, including the leader. Against them, as well as against 9 other people, a case file was filed – as the case may be – for criminal organization, money laundering, as well as for violating the legislation on drugs and weapons.

Also, members of the organization are additionally accused of forgery and fraud, as in the context of the investigation evidence emerged of their activity in this field, through virtual businesses and the supply of fake or bad checks.

How was he acting?

As it turned out, the leading member was supplied at regular intervals by a member of the organization with narcotic substances, which he then stored in his house in Vari, with the aim of further trafficking in the wider area of ​​Attica, with a car owned by him.

Also, the partner of the leading member cooperated in drug trafficking, however, in addition to storing them, she also maintained her own “clientele”, which she supplied with drugs.

In at least 750 “transactions” found to have been carried out by members of the organization, at least 900 grams of cocaine and 500 grams of cannabis were traded, with half a gram of cocaine selling for at least €35 and a gram of cannabis for at least €5.

The dismantling of the criminal organization took place in the context of an organized police operation, which took place in the evening hours of 12-27-2022, in Elliniko and Vari, where 3 people were arrested as well as in the early hours of the next day (12-28-2022) in Ilioupoli , where another person was arrested, a “client” of the organization.
In fact, for the person arrested in Ilioupoli, it emerged that he cooperated with the leading member in the preparation and distribution of forged or uncovered checks with the aim of obtaining an illegal financial benefit.

What did the investigations find?

In a search carried out in houses and in the possession of the defendants, among other things, the following were found and confiscated:

• -0.6- grams cocaine,
• -78.96- grams raw cannabis,
• -25.93- grams. chocolate type cannabis,
• -2- hemp graters,
• -3- cars,
• the amount of -18,175- euros,
• unlicensed hunting type carbine,
• checks and pads of doubtful authenticity.

The financial benefit obtained by the members of the organization from their criminal activity is estimated to exceed 70,000 euros.

Those arrested, with the case file filed against them, were taken to the Criminal Prosecutor of Athens, who referred them to an Investigator. The investigation into the involvement of others involved continues.
