His resignation from the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Affairs, in order to join the ND electoral campaign, was announced by Yannis Smyrlis.
In more detail, his announcement on Facebook:
Today a very important cycle of reforms and successful actions for me ends and a new one opens, as I enlist in the electoral struggle for the new great victory of the NEW REPUBLIC
In the last 2 years from the position of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Affairs and the President of Enterprise Greece, through a constructive cooperation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Nikos Dendias and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Fragogiannis:
• We achieved the implementation and operation of a new coherent structure of economic diplomacy and extroversion, in which for the first time the Commercial Entourages (EOF) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were operationally linked with the two (2) extroverted organizations, Enterprise Greece (Hellenic Company of Foreign Trade and Investments) and Export Credit Greece (Hellenic Export Credit Company).
• We prepared and implemented, for the first time, the National Strategic Plan for Extraversion, the first joint action plan of state and private entities.
• Through the Extroversion Council, we connected Greek entrepreneurship with the Government’s plans for investments and exports.
• We activated and established the Government Trade Facilitation Committee by drawing up a Roadmap of Actions for the simplification of pre-customs procedures.
• We upgraded the role of EnterpriseGreece, achieving a new record of Strategic Investments of more than 8 billion euros and contributing significantly, through hundreds of actions and exhibitions, to recording a new export record of 40 billion in 2021 and more than 45 billion in 2022.
• We modernized and transformed the Hellenic Export Credit Company (formerly OAEP), so that it contributes decisively to the support of Greek exporters.
• We supported and upgraded the 60 Economic and Commercial Affairs Offices (EFA) in foreign authorities and connected them directly with the Greek business community.
At the end of this cycle, I can only personally thank Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis for the trust he has shown in me all these years, the political leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the productive Ministries, the productive agencies and business liaisons for the very good cooperation and of course all my colleagues at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at Enterprise Greece for their valuable help.
