There was no ICU available in Thessaloniki and the infant was transported by Air Force plane to Athens
One was delivered to Athens and the Penteli Children’s Hospital by Air Force plane three year old boy, who was hospitalized at the Mamatsio hospital in Kozani.
According to the hospital administrator Dimitris Siolo, the three-year-old boy came to the hospital at midnight on Tuesday with breathing difficulty, but then his condition worsened. The doctors intubated the boy and due to his condition it was decided to transfer him to the Pediatric ICU.
Mr. Siolos told APE-MPE that due to the fullness of the beds in Thessaloniki, the doctors turned to hospitals in Athens and after consultation it was decided to transfer the child to the Pentelis Children’s Hospital.
An EKAV ambulance, accompanied by an intensivist and a pediatrician from the Kozani hospital, transported the boy to the city’s airport, where he was waiting for the PA plane, which was carrying a doctor to transport the three-year-old to Athens.
