Shield protecting doctors from denial lawsuits – The amendment

The government seeks to protect doctors from negative lawsuits with an amendment submitted by the Ministry of Health to Parliament.

Article 3 of the amendment sets out the new framework for the liability of physicians for possible negligence in the treatment of patients with coronavirus.

“It is limited exclusively to acts and omissions that clearly contradict the general rules of medical science or the medical protocol for the management of covid19 cases or the health measures applied in the Greek Territory to deal with the pandemic,” it is emphasized.

With the same amendment, the possibility of employment of private doctors in public hospitals is extended until 31/3/2022, the compensation of voluntary or compulsorily available medical, nursing and support staff from the private sector and the employment of retired doctors in the NSS.

Also, the possibility of performing pcr and rapid test by the private doctors of all specialties, the nurses, the health visitors, the medical staff of the local authorities a ‘and the private pharmacists is extended.
