Patras: A minute’s silence by Greek and Italian doctors for the 6-year-old who donated his organs

The child’s mother wished the doctors good success who, before starting the operation, observed a minute’s silence in memory of the deceased Thomas

The family, relatives and friends will say their last goodbye this afternoon 6 year old Thomas from Grevena, the little boy who died after a cardiac arrest.

The greatness of the soul of his parents, causes admiration and emotion as they decided to donate his organs to give life to our fellow men.

The two groups of doctors from Italy and Greece they started the procedure at 01.30 in the morning at the University Hospital of Patras.

Particularly touching moments unfolded just before the doctors proceeded to remove the organs, as the 6-year-old’s mother wished the doctors good luck. While before starting the operation they observed a minute of silence in memory of the deceased Thomas.

The heart is received by a six-year-old girl in Turin, who was living with mechanical support.

The lungs will give breath to an 11-year-old in Bergamo, part of the liver will go to a five-month-old infant also in Bergamo and the other part to a recipient in Rome, while recipients here in Greece will be given the kidneys and corneas.
