The 29-year prison sentence remained for the 74-year-old – today – who is accused of raping his grandchildren, a case that shocked Panhellenium in June 2018.

With its unanimous decision, the Mixed Jury Court of Appeal of Lamia upheld the sentence that had been imposed on him by the MOD of Amfissa, without recognizing the mitigating factors of his previous legal life and good behavior after the act. It is pointed out that the maximum sentence is 20 years.

As in the trial in the first instance, the 74-year-old claimed that he is innocent and cited the fact that his DNA was not found on the children. On the other hand, both the statements of the prosecution witnesses and the other evidence, such as the expert opinions of psychologists and the forensic report, certify the abuse of the children, according to the Court. What stood out in what was heard in the courtroom were the descriptions of the bad situation in which the two children aged 7 and 9 were, especially after the death of their great-grandmother.
