One of the issues that remains unclear is the length of time the body will remain in the Cathedral chapel – Pikramenos and Mendoni will represent the government

Pending the finalization of the final details for the funeral ritual of late King Constantine on Monday, work at Tatoi, where the burial will take place, is nearing completion.

As it became known a while ago, the government will be represented apart from the Minister of Culture, Linas Mendoni, and the deputy prime minister, Panagiotis Pikrammenos.

Speaking this morning to SKAI 100.3, the Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni stated that the church in Tatoi is maintained and ready to receive people.

The surrounding area, he said, will be in decent condition, noting however that it will have the appearance of a mountain that has been burnt and the procedures for arranging the area have been done so that one can approach without any problems.

One of the issues that remain unclear is the length of time the body will remain in the Cathedral chapel.

Although formal no popular pilgrimage is plannedin case the body is taken earlier in the morning to the chapel of Agios Eleftherios, no one will prevent those who wish to pay their respects.

According to information from SKAI, the body will remain in the chapel from 06:00 to 10:00 on Monday.

Afterwards, the funeral service will be held at 12:00 in the Metropolis of Athens. The former king’s body will then be taken to Tatoi.

The burial will take place in the former royal estate, Tatoi, where the cemetery of the former royal family is located. Special crews are working feverishly at the site to remove the trunks and branches of burnt trees left by the fire in August 2021. The family even visited the site yesterday to watch the work.

The official guests

A crowd of blue-blooded people is expected to attend the former King’s funeral.

According to the information so far, the funeral is expected to be attended by: o king of spain philip viThe Honorary King of Spain Juan CarlosThe king of Sweden Charles Ist’ GustavusThe Dutch King William Alexander and Queen Maximathe Queen Margaret II of DenmarkThe Grand Duke Henry of Luxembourg and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.

Regarding the representation from the British royal family, the final answer is reportedly expected today.

According to what Thanasis Gavos reported from London, protocol dictates that King Charles attends funerals only of heads of state, but a private visit is not excluded, although this is considered difficult due to the security measures that should have been taken and it takes more time to prepare accordingly.

The funeral will probably be attended by both Princess Anna, who was already in Cyprus for the last few days, and Prince Edward, Elizabeth’s youngest son.

In fact, it is not improbable that Crown Prince William will also move to Greece, as the former King Konstantinos was his godfather, while William has baptized one of his grandsons, Konstantinos – Alexios..
