There will be a protest rally outside the Ministry of Labor at 10 am
“Luketo” enters tomorrow Tuesday to the municipalities of the whole country, due to the 24-hour pan-Hellenic strike of the POE-OTA (Panhellenic Federation of Employees of Local Government Organizations), on the occasion of the fatal injury of a cleaning worker of the Municipality of Xylokastro-Eurostini.
At the same time, there will be a protest rally outside the Ministry of Labor, at 10 am, and then a march to the Ministry of the Interior (in the building on Vas. Sophia) where a meeting with Minister Makis Voridis will be requested.
The 45-year-old municipal employee, who according to complaints was uninsuredwas killed instantly when a vehicle crashed at high speed into the back of the garbage truck he was riding in while on duty.
The main demand of the mobilization is the strict implementation of the legislation on health and safety at work.
The POE-OTA places political responsibility on the government, stating that “it has purposefully dismantled every control mechanism by knowingly creating the conditions of a working jungle in the Local Self-Government”.
A meeting is scheduled for Wednesday General Council of the Federation in order to determine the further attitude of the industry.
