The European Public Prosecutor’s Office, at the end of December, requested the lifting of the immunity of Eva Kailis and Maria Spyrakis, due to alleged fraud against the EU budget.
The President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced that she received the requests of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office to lift the immunity of Eva Kaili and Maria Spyrakis.
The request to lift the immunity of Maria Spyrakis is referred to the Legal Affairs Committee, as the EP president said.
It is recalled that the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, at the end of December, requested the lifting of the immunity of Eva Kailis and Maria Spyrakis, due to alleged fraud against the EU budget.
This fraud is related to the management of their parliamentary compensation and the remuneration of their accredited assistants in the European Parliament and has nothing to do with the corruption case from Qatar.
Besides, the president of the European Parliament announced the request for the defense of parliamentary immunity by Giorgos Kyrtsos, in the context of the complaint he has made against the Greek authorities for the wiretapping. This request is referred to the Legal Affairs Committee.
