The “Patrino Carnival” officially started this evening in a spectacular way, “after three years of pandemic and blocking of events” as noted by the mayor of Patreon Kostas Peletidis, in the presence of a large number of people in Georgiou Square despite the bad weather that preceded it.
Mr. Peletidis announcing the opening of the “Patrinos Carnival” said that “in the difficult conditions we live in, we need uplifting and strength”, emphasizing at the same time that “the “Patrinos Carnival” comes to help us, because it is an authentic popular celebration, which characterized by mass participation, creativity, sarcastic and self-deprecating mood. It gives us the impetus to face everyday difficulties.”
The mayor underlined the contribution of the city’s youth “who, thanks to inspiration, imagination, vitality, fun, ingenuity, satirical and subversive spirit, participation, enriches and constantly renews the events, artistically and creatively” and added that “these are the characteristics that make the difference and indelibly stamp the “Carnival of Patras””.
