The trial for the murder of Alkis Kampanos continues today

The trial began last Wednesday, January 18, but was interrupted at the request of defense lawyers who cited obstacles

The trial continues today before the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki for the case of the murder of Alkis Kampanos.

The trial began last Wednesday, January 18, but was adjourned. The interruption was decided to be granted following a relevant request of the defense lawyers who invoked obstacles, connected to their obligations to another (higher) Court.

The judges stopped the proceedings in order to decide on the day of the next trial. Earlier, the process of legalization of the lawyers took place and the list of the 26 witnesses of the indictment was announced.

The defendants are referred for the following acts:

  • Defendants for manslaughter, committed (in the case of ‘Alkis’) and attempted (in the case of the first injured young man), jointly,
  • One of them for attempted homicide in the case of the second injured young man, and the remaining 11 as simple accomplices in this act,
  • Defendants for assault and possession of objects that can cause bodily harm, with the aggravating provisions of the Sports Law, as well as for illegal carrying and use of weapons.

The Chronicles

In the early hours of February 1, 2022, 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos was with his group at the entrance of his apartment building on X. Gazi Street, in Harilaou Thessaloniki when two cars with PAOK hooligans stopped at the scene and asked Alkis and his group what group is. The hooligans attacked the young man and his group with knives, clubs and other sharp objects. Alkis was stabbed by a scythe and injured in the leg, while he also received multiple blows.
