Thick snow has covered Karditsa, with schools operating normally
On Thursday morning (26/1) the mountainous and semi-mountainous parts of Karditsa province woke up in white, and while the snowfall continues.
Snowfall starts at 250m, reaches about 15cm at 600m. altitude and about 60-70 centimeters of snow in the necks of Tympanos and Agios Nikolaos.
A lot of rain in the lowlands from midnight onwards (about 28 thousand of rain on Thursday until 07.30 in Karditsa and in total from the current bad weather about 62 thousand).
The bad weather also brought problems with the electricity supply since according to the information, the Municipality of Argithea (almost in its entirety) as well as the villages of Pefkophyto and Hellinopyrgos of the Municipality of Mouzaki, as well as communities of the Municipality of Limni Plastira such as Neochori, Kerasia, Belokomitis, etc., are without electricity.
It was reported by DEDDIE that the crews are heading to the points of damage for the repair, however there is no exact timetable for restoration due to road access that may be required at the points.

However, there are no closed roads, although almost the entire mountainous network requires anti-slip chains, while the main problem is found in electricity supply problems mainly in the Local Communities of the Municipalities of Argithea and Limni Plastira.

In more detail, the mayor of Argithea, Mr. Andreas Stergiou, informed that it is still snowing in the area and the snow is about 70 centimeters in the necks. There are, he added, machines that operate continuously and traffic is conducted normally but with the use of anti-slip chains. Since the morning, there have been several power supply problems throughout the municipality, but they have now been limited to Eastern Argithea, where DEDDIE crews are located.
On the part of the mayor of Mouzaki, Mr. Fanis Stathis, he emphasized that there is snow in the mountains of NE. Mouzakiou and a little in Ellinopyrgos. The maximum height we find is 10 to 15 points. He pointed out that the roads are open and stressed the obligation of drivers to bring anti-skid chains. Electricity supply issues were also limited in the Municipality of Mouzaki and specifically in Pefkophytos, which were restored along the way.
Deputy Mayor Mr. Tsiamantas spoke for the Municipality of Limni Plastira, who pointed out that the height of the snow is from 35 centimeters in Karitsa and decreases to 15 centimeters in the local communities with a lower altitude. Chains are definitely needed on the municipal road network, provided that the traffic is carried out without problems and the machines are in full operational readiness. There are quite a few problems with the electricity supply in the Municipality, as Morfovouni, Mesenikolas do not have electricity, there is also a problem in Karitsa, while in Phylakti and Pezoula the network is under-functioning, as only one phase is working.
Finally, the press office of the Municipality of Karditsa informed that the snow in the mountains of the Municipality is 10 to 20 centimeters, that all the roads are open but the anti-skid chains must be in the car. Machines exist throughout the mountain network, while electricity problems were reported by residents in Neraida Karditsa.
It is also worth mentioning that in none of the aforementioned municipalities was there a school that did not function.
