Volos: Message from “112” to residents – Heavy snow in Pelion

by

The snowfall continues in Chania, where the height of the snow has reached almost 10 cm, while at the ski center in Agriolefkes it reaches 25 cm

“112” sent a message at 13.00 to the thousands of residents of Volos, warning of dangerous weather phenomena in the next few hours in the wider area, but also in Magnesia in general, with the exhortation to limit movements while minor traffic problems have already been caused in some places of the provincial network.

In Volos, it has been raining continuously since yesterday afternoon and the rainfall continues, without any problems in the wider urban complex. Heavy snow is falling in Pelion, but the continuous snow removal of the road network, especially on the Volos-Chania-Zagora axis, keeps the roads clear, while at the same time machines also pour salt to prevent the road surface from freezing.

The snowfall continues in Chania, where the height of the snow has reached almost 10 cm, while in the ski center in Agriolefkes it reaches 25 cm. The bad weather in the area continues and the snowfall has extended to lower altitudes and it is snowing from Portaria and above.

The deputy governor of Magnesia, Dorothea Kolyndrini, told APE-MPE that “the snowfall is currently mild, the situation is under control, there are snow removal machines since yesterday that are constantly cleaning the road and pouring salt. We are fully monitoring the situation. The same is happening in the mountains of Almyros, where it is snowing in Anavra, while in the rest of Magnesia it has been raining since yesterday.”
