Agrinio: Prosecutor’s intervention regarding the dangerous crossing of students from Evinos

by

Agriniou’s public prosecutor intervened ex officio and requested that statements be taken from all those involved from the Thermos police station in order to establish whether the offense of exposing minors to danger is substantiated.

The intervention of the prosecutor was caused by the images of the students in Thermo who risked their lives in order to cross the dangerous river using a wire footbridge and an iron canopy, as earlier there had been a landslide in a nearby place.

The photos show the children crossing a suspended wire bridge, just 70 meters above the rushing waters of the Evinos River.

The landslide occurred on the provincial road Loutron Stachtis – Thermou in Agrinio. A short time earlier, a bus full of students from the villages of Family and Stranoma had passed by the same spot. Despite being instructed to return the students by a safer, longer route, this appears not to have happened according to the complaint by a councillor, who also uploaded the relevant photos to Facebook.

Early this morning, after becoming aware of the relevant publications, the public prosecutor of Agrinio intervened ex officio and asked for statements to be taken from all involved from the Thermos police station in order to establish whether you have committed the offense of exposing minors to danger.

This move also caught up with the mayor of Thermos Spyro Constantara who was going to take legal action. After the intervention of the prosecutor, the reason why the children moved to the scene will be investigated and the responsibilities will be sought.
