The Prime Minister of Turkey, Tansu Çiler, calls for negotiations on the status of the Aegean rocky islands. Turkish warships are violating Greek territorial waters and approaching Imia. Diplomas are made from Greece to the European Union and the USA.

On the same day in 1837 (BC) Russian author and poet Alexander Pushkin was killed in a duel by his mistress’ cheating husband in 1941 passed away the highest officer of the Greek Army and then prime minister and dictator, Ioannis Metaxas, in 1975 the actor, Orestis Makris and in 1994 the Austrian ski champion, Urlike Meyer, was killed in the free descent of the Alpine Skiing World Cup in Germany.
