Technical University of Crete: The two professors exceeded 11,000 citations for their research project according to Google Scholar

These achievements confirm once again the high-quality research work produced by the teaching-research staff of the Technical University of Crete

The professors of the Technical University of Crete, Apostolos Voulgarakis (SCHOOL OF CHEMISTRY) and Michalis Doumpos (School of Education and Training), exceeded 10,000 references by other researchers to their research projectaccording to Google Scholar, which in January 2023 shows 11229 references to Mr. Voulgarakis (h-index: 45) and 11114 references to Mr. Doumbos (h-index: 61).

It is a special achievement, which they achieve after the current professors Konstantinos Zopounidis and Mino Garofalakis, the emeritus professors Markos Papageorgiou (20,000+) and Nikolaos Kalogerakis and the former professors Konstantinos Synolakis and Georgios Giannakakis.

These achievements confirm once again the high-quality research work produced by the teaching-research staff of the Technical University of Crete.

Short Biography of Apostolos Voulgarakis

Apostolos Voulgarakis is Associate Professor at the School of Chemical and Environmental Engineering (CHEMIPER) and holder of the AXA Chair for Forest Fires and Climate. He directs the Atmospheric Environment and Climate Change Laboratory of the Technical University of Crete, which specializes in the use of highly sophisticated models and satellite observations to understand and predict Earth’s climate, atmospheric composition, air quality and the role of fires on Earth system.

He is the founder and founding director of the London-based Leverhulme Center for Fire, Environment and Society Research, with the Polytechnic of Crete bearing the title of the Center’s first officially Interconnected Organisation. He has participated in a number of major global research efforts to study and predict current and future climate, as well as authoring chapters of UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports.

Short Biography of Michalis Doumbous

Michalis Doumpos is a Professor at the School of Production and Management Engineering (MPD) and a member of the Financial Management Systems Laboratory. His research interests include Multicriteria Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Decision Support Systems and Financial Management.

In 2019 in Istanbul, he was awarded the Gold Medal (MCDM Gold Medal) of the International Society for Multicriteria Decision Analysis, which is the highest distinction awarded by the Society every two years, to a researcher who, through his scientific activity, made a decisive contribution to the theory, the methodology, practice and professional formation and development of the field of multi-criteria decision-making. He has published more than 90 papers in leading international journals in the fields of business research, finance and management science, and has participated in the writing of more than 15 books published in Greek and international publishing houses.
