The burial of Stathis Tsitlakidis, who died tragically in the fall of the F-4 Phantom aircraft of the Air Force, in Andravida, last Monday, was completed in an atmosphere of sorrow.

Tragic figures, his family, his fiancee and his best man who held his quotient and sword.

The funeral obituaries of the brother and classmates of Stathis Tsitlakidis, which were read during the funeral service at the Holy Church of Pammegisto Taxiarhon, are shocking.

His brother at the funeral said:

“Today we mourn a man in quotes. Because you were never just human. You’ve always been a hero born of human guts.

We honor someone’s effort to achieve the impossible at any cost.

Today we honor the one who showed us the way. Here in the unspoiled village of Nevrokopi, you proved once again what the ideals and values of our homeland are.

You demonstrated in practice the concepts of family, companionship and friendship. You were and will always be an example to follow.

Today we are not going to be sad. We will be happy for all that you have offered not only to your family but also to the whole of Greece everywhere.

You will always be in our thoughts and in the thoughts of all Greeks.

Stathi and Marie, we love you and will honor you alive and dead”.

A colleague of Stathis Tsitlakidis said at his funeral:

“The sad news of your death has filled the hearts of your family, friends and colleagues in the Air Force with immense sadness and unspeakable pain.

Throughout your career you stood by everyone as a wonderful person, excellent colleague and partner tirelessly serving the Air Force and the Armed Forces while being a role model child to your parents.

For 10 years he served in the 120th Air Wing and the 117th AM. Fate did not let you complete your wonderful work on your steel wings leaving a void in your family and the Air Force.

You have been an honest and straightforward character, honest in your relationships. We mourn the lost lavender, the son the friend, the officer gone on the eternal journey. Your family, which until today supported you wholeheartedly, loses a precious child. Your morals and kindness stood out. You passed into eternity and history, but you had our love in life, you will have it forever.

Your memory will not be forgotten by your adoring parents and colleagues. Our country ranks you among the heroes who sacrificed to preserve its freedom. The Air Force is losing a valuable member of its staff.

Such is the fate of man, he comes and goes without finishing his dreams. It is with great sadness that we send you our last regards. Let the soil of the Macedonian land that will cover you be light. May the almighty God give strength to your parents.”
