The speakers made special reference, not only to the accuracy, but mainly to the huge, as they said, energy costs, asking the government to control the situation
In the central square of Lamia, Eleftheria Square, the farmers’ rally was completed as they arrived there with tractors and agricultural machinery from various parts of Fthiotidos. The tractors from the regions of Atalanti, Makrakomi, Pelasgia and Stylida as well as from villages of the plain of Lamia gathered at the entrance of Lamia to then form a convoy and reach the central square of the city where they poured tens of kilos of milk and unloaded pet food.
Blockades have been set up in various parts of the prefecture in the past and the farmers are threatening to escalate their mobilizations as they stated during the protest “we are facing a matter of survival as we can no longer enter our fields due to the punctuality”.
The speakers made special reference, not only to accuracy, but mainly to what they said was huge energy costs, calling on the government to control the situation, as profiteering, they said, was driving up farm-to-shelf prices five and ten times higher. .
They themselves left open the possibility of proceeding even to symbolic blockades, without excluding key points of the region.
They also left open the possibility of setting up roadblocks in parts of the Athens-Lamia highway as they noted that “our struggle is escalating and we are pressuring the government to accept our demands and provide solutions as our survival depends on it”. The farmers also said that they will hold their pre-gatherings at various places near their villages.
