Due to the problems caused by increased traffic, mainly visitors, in the area, yesterday and today, the mayor of Anogeia asks drivers to be careful “and diligent about with anti-slip chains but also their driving”, he reminded that due to the snow low speeds, full supply of fuel and knowledge of handling the car in snowy conditions are imposed. As he mentioned, the only irregularity that exists in Anogeia and the roads inside and outside the municipality, is that they have to seek help from visitors who are facing problems that are mainly related to their vehicles. “Our farmers are fully covered in assistance regarding their herds, everything necessary for their safety has been done and the whole machinery of the municipality is on alert.”

In the meantime, the General Regional Police Directorate of Crete issued a directive regarding the obligation of vehicle owners of all categories to be equipped with anti-skid chains or other similar anti-skid means and for the Regional Unit of Rethymno and specifically, “on the entire road network of the Municipality of Anogeia , on the provincial road from the local community of Spiliou to the local community of Gerakari, on the provincial road from the local community of Myriokephala to the intersection with Vilandredos”.

The primary and secondary schools of the Municipality of Anogeia and Amari remained closed today, a decision that is also valid for tomorrow, Tuesday. This decision was taken both by the municipal authorities of Anogeia and Amario for the safety of the educational community due to the adverse weather conditions and low temperatures prevailing in the areas. The Department of Culture of the Municipality of Rethymno informs that due to the predicted unfavorable weather conditions, the children’s party that was scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. (Great Gate), as well as the procession that was scheduled to start on the 18th, is cancelled. :30 on the same day. Also, the opening ceremony of the Rethemniotic Carnival is moved to CINE BAR QUEENS with a start time of 20:30, without changes to the program that has already been announced.
