According to an announcement by the Hellenic Police, for special security reasons and to avoid causing traffic problems, from today at 20:00, a traffic ban for all types of heavy vehicles over 3.5 tons, regardless of the use of anti-skid chains, comes into effect from now on road networks:
– In both traffic streams of N.E.O. Athens-Lamiain its section from the height of A/K Kalyftakis to h/th 57,300 (boundaries of N. Attica).
– Along its entire length Attica Road, of the West Ymittos Regional Avenue and Regional Egaleo, as well as the road network adjacent to them.
Especially for its articulated buses O.A.S.A., which operate routes to and from Athens International Airport “EL. VENIZELOS”, the above traffic stoppage will be valid from 20:00 today 02.06.2023 until 11:00 tomorrow 02.07.2023 .
It is recalled that the traffic ban on all types of heavy vehicles, with a maximum permissible weight of more than 3.5 tons, remains in effect, regardless of the use of anti-skid chains in both traffic streams P.E.O. Elefsina-Thebes from m/th 5,000 (REVOIL gas station – formerly CYCLON) to the borders of the Prefecture of Attica with the Prefecture of Viotia (m/th 30,000).
At the same time, the announcement clarifies that the obligation to equip these vehicles with anti-skid chains, or other similar anti-skid means, still applies.
The police appeal to the drivers of the vehicles in question to avoid driving on the above road sections, in order to avoid inconvenience and the creation of additional traffic problems, and to follow the instructions of the traffic controllers.
Stoppage of traffic for trucks over 3.5 tons also in Athens – Thessaloniki
Traffic stoppage from 20:00 until further notice has come into effect for vehicles over 3.5 tons along the entire length of the Athens-Thessaloniki National Highway in both traffic streams as well as on the Old Athens-Thessaloniki National Highway, according to a decision of EL.AS
