LeBron James made history as he became the leading scorer in NBA history under the watchful eye of the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
That, however, was not enough for the Lakers to avoid defeat by the Thunder in Los Angeles.
After the game was stopped for the sake of the “king”, the “lake people” managed to tie the game at 106-106, then with a 7-0 run Oklahoma was able to take the lead again. The hosts pushed until the end of the game, to match LeBron’s historic record with a victory, but this was not possible.
James finished the game with 38 points, 2 more than he wanted to break the all-time record, Russell Westbrook scored 27 points (8 assists) and Anthony Davis added 13 points and 8 rebounds for Los Angeles.
For the Thunder, the standout was Shay Gilgeous Alexander with 30 points and 8 assists, Willimas had 25 points, 7 rebounds, 6 steals and Josh Giddy scored 20 points and had 6 assists.
