Multi-member gang robbed elderly people in Thessaloniki – They pretended to be elevator technicians

From last October until January 2023, they committed six thefts, with their loot exceeding 72,000 euros

In identification 13 people who were deceiving the elderly with the method of employment, pretending to be the technicians of the electricity company or elevators, police officers of the Security Department of Harilaou-Analifseos proceeded.

It’s about eleven men and two women, aged between 21 and 57 years, some of whom are related to each other, operating, as the case may be, during the period from last October until January 2023, they committed six theftswith their loot exceeding 72,000 euros.

Characteristics of their mode of action were the choice of their victims, mainly elderlythe search for their potential victims in neighborhoods, approaching them just before entering their homes and securing their trust.

Subsequently impersonating temployees of companies and businesses, in order to easily enter the homes of the elderly, employed the “sufferers”, or the they were imprisoning in a room, mainly the kitchen, while their accomplices searched the areas of the apartments. As it was found, in one case, they also removed a bank card, using which they proceeded with transactions and withdrawals of sums of money.

The case filess that were formed will be submitted to the Criminal Prosecutor’s Office of Thessaloniki, while investigations continue to identify any other victims.
