Two arrests in Farsala – Weapons and ancient coins confiscated

Two people (a man and a woman) were arrested on Wednesday in Farsala, accused of, as the case may be, offenses of violating the law on weapons and violating the legislation on the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage in general.

Among other things, -30- firearms, -3,728- firearm cartridges, quantity of antimony – solid material, weighing -20.5- kg, as well as -800- coins were confiscated, almost all of which fall under the provisions of the legislation on antiquities

In particular, after proper use of information on illegal possession of weapons by the perpetrator and on illegal charging – retreading of cartridges, which he has for sale, lawful searches were carried out in his home, in a business owned by him, in warehouses as well as in areas sports club, during which a total of were found and confiscated:

-30- firearms, -25- pistols and -5- revolvers,
-2- air weapons, -1- pistol and -1- rifle,
-2- air pistols with their cartridges,
-63- magazines,
-3.728- firearm cartridges,
-10- assault rifle cartridges,
-6.423- firearm cartridge capsules,
-847- hunting cartridge capsules,
-1.010- cartridge case of firearms,
-4.520- firearm shells (detonated),
-594- empty hunting cartridge cases, suitable for charging,
-6.162- projectiles of firearms,
-493- metal projectiles for charging – retreading of firearm cartridges,
-2- manual filling machines – cartridge refilling,
-2.298- assemblies for hunting cartridges (plugs or plugs),
a plurality of circular plugs suitable for loading shotgun cartridges,
-21- plastic containers with gunpowder, total weight-12- kilos and -898- grams,
amount of antimony – solid material, weight -20.5- kg,
-1- nylon package with antimony shavings, weight -861- grams,
-18- carbon dioxide ampoules,
-7- tools – accessories used to make and deactivate cartridges (hammers, gunpowder dispenser, etc.),
-800- coins,
-2- matrices of coins and -1- metal object, the archaeological value of which is under consideration and
-1- fully functional electronic metal detector – ground reconnaissance.

As it turned out, for -30- of the confiscated weapons, a possession permit had been issued in the name of the arrested person, without her observing the terms and conditions regarding their possession and safekeeping.

At the same time, according to an estimate of a competent official of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Larissa, almost all the confiscated coins fall under the provisions of the legislation on antiquities and cover a wide chronological range ranging from antiquity to late Byzantine times.

The arrested will be taken to the Larissa Public Prosecutor, while the preliminary investigation will be carried out by the Larissa Security Sub-Directorate.
