The revelers at the Carnival of São Paulo do not live on beer alone. You also need to line your stomach. For those who are going to enjoy the festivities on the street, or even for those who are just looking for a place to eat on the holiday, check out five restaurants that will be open this Tuesday, the 21st, and Wednesday (22).

The Brazeiro

The traditional restaurant will keep its doors open during the holiday. The specialty is roasted chicken, but there are also suggestions such as chicken à passe (R$40) and the Mineirinho do Brazinha sandwich, for R$28, prepared with filet mignon, mozzarella and vinaigrette on French bread.

Gael – Mixed Kitchen

The house is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner throughout Carnival. To eat, there are portions like the rice cake (R$26; six units) or the padoca salad (R$54), which has a mix of leaves, parma ham, roasted figs with cane molasses and balsamic sauce. On the drinks list, there is the Luna Rosa (R$ 34), which mixes pink gin, watermelon soda, citrus juice, ginger syrup and cardamom perfume.

Make Hommus Not War

The kitchen specializing in Middle Eastern food is also open on public holidays and joins neighboring bars for a warm up Carnival scene on the street. Chef Fred Caffarena will set up a barbecue on the sidewalk to prepare kebab, which can be stuffed into a sandwich that costs R$28. There is also a falafel sandwich (R$25) and a portion of zaatar fries (R$15).

Nectar

The healthy food fast-food joint created a carnival combo, worth R$43.60, which includes a double cheeseburger, sweet potato fried in coconut oil and a can of Amstel Ultra beer — whoever chooses to buy it gets a necklace toast hawaiian. The snack is made with two picanha smash burgers, light cheddar cream, lettuce, tomato and sauce on brioche bread.

All Flavor

The pizzeria offers around 80 flavors of rounds, from the classics, such as pepperoni and chicken with catupiry, to vegetarian and vegan options. The latter cost R$70 for a shoot or R$98 for a large one. Traditional pizzas start at R$79.90.
