Everything is ready for the biggest carnival parade of recent years – At 21:00 in the old port of Patras the burning of the carnival king with thousands of fireworks
In the last few hours, the city of Patraswhere the biggest carnival will start shortly parade of recent years in which 60,000 carnival participants and 150 floats participate.
The center of the city does not drop a pin since – apart from Patrinos – the city has welcomed more than 250,000 visitors.
Specifically, at 14:00 the grand parade will begin with the chariotswhile the spectacular closing ceremony will take place at 21:00 at the pier of Agios Nikolaos, in the old port of Patras, with the central element being the burning of the carnival king and the thousands of fireworks lighting up the Achaean sky.
The float parade will begin with its drummer herald carnival kingwho with his tambourine will set the carnival rhythm and will be followed by the colorful carnival king as a clown, who will have the prominent form of a circus and a carousel of animals.
They will also parade the queen’s float, with the queen of the 2023 paternal carnival, Katerina Veneri – Siuli, the flower float with the queen of the three previous events, which had not been paraded, Maria Kyriakopoulou, “Imagine” with John Lennon and his van being run over by the war tank, “Hell Oil” on the price of gasoline, “Facebook” with satire directed in a comical spirit to fake social media profiles, “Rabbit Test Show” dealing with humorous look at the pandemic adventure and the two musical chariots.
Also, the children’s carnival floats, “Iguana”, “Moon”, “Carnival”, “Magissa” (blood donation float), “Dog”, “Centipede” and “Cicada” will be on parade.
At the end of Sunday’s grand parade, four floats and a wagon of the chocolate war will appear, with the chocolate sprinklers continuing the time-honored traditional custom by sweetening the spectators on sidewalks and balconies.
Anti-war messages, precision, energy crisis and people’s electronic communication through social media will be the themes of this year’s parade, all given the necessary “carnival” style.
After the burning of the carnival king in the old port of Patras, a party-concert will be held with the invited Athenian rock band “15 50″, while in the middle of the concert, which is estimated to last about three hours, the paternal band will appear, ” Above Suspicion”.
