The Union of Judicial Officers of the Court of Auditors comments on the recent post of Pavlos Polakis with its announcement
The Union of Judicial Officers of the Court of Auditors in today’s announcement regarding the recent posting of Pavlos Polakis.
In their announcement they emphasize, among other things, that “the personal targeting of our colleagues from other jurisdictions and his position on purges in the Judiciary have absolutely nothing to do with the free and legitimate criticism of judicial decisions in democratic legal orders, such as the Greek one”.
“We are, however, satisfied with the finding, from what followed, that opinions, such as those expressed by this particular member of parliament, although noisy, remain completely marginal and have no place in the public debate”. is noted.
Full announcement:
The extreme and undemocratic recent public position of the MP Mr. Pavlos Polakis, the personal targeting of our colleagues from other jurisdictions and his position on purges in the Judiciary have absolutely nothing to do with free and legitimate democratic legal orders, such as the Greek , criticism of judicial decisions. On the contrary, as deeply insulting to every judge who daily toils, serving the Rule of Law in Greece, it is self-evidently reprehensible and strongly condemned.
We are, however, satisfied with the finding, from what followed, that opinions, such as those expressed by this particular member of parliament, although noisy, remain completely marginal and have no place in the public debate. And we have no doubt that they resonate even less with the citizens, who still look, with confidence, to Justice, as the last refuge for the protection of their liberties and rights.
