Eva Kaili’s defense requests her release from prison with an electronic bracelet
Her audition is over Eva Kaili and the Mark Tarabella to the appeals court, after the appeal they had made. As the lawyer of Michalis Dimitrakopoulos mentioned a while ago, in his statements to journalists, the decision for Ms. Kaili is expected on 3rd of March.
It is recalled that after the pre-trial council’s decision, on February 16, to extend Eva Kaili’s pre-trial detention by two months, her lawyer Sven Marie filed an appeal, which, according to the procedure, is heard within 15 days. The advocate of Mr. Tarabella had done the same.
Eva Kaili’s defense would request her release from prison with an electronic bracelet. In case the decision of the Court of Appeal is negative, Ms. Kaili will remain in custody for two months.
At the same time, the Brussels prosecutor’s office confirmed that the partner of Eva Kaili and accused in the corruption case in the European Parliament, Francesco Giorgi, was released yesterday from the prisons of Saint-Gilles with an electronic bracelet. F. Giorgi was arrested on December 9 and released, following the decision of the Pre-Trial Council on February 23.
