Mr. Ziliaskopoulos in the Special Committee to investigate the causes of the accident in Tempi is replaced by Mr. Christos Pyrgidis
In a statement issued by the transportation professor at the University of Thessaly, he announced that he will not take up duties in the committee of experts announced yesterday by Giorgos Gerapetritis.
In the announcement it specifically states:
“Following my appointment as a member of the commission investigating the causes of the tragic accident in Tempi, in my capacity as professor of transport at the University of Thessaly, there followed a series of statements and publications by political figures concerning me, regarding my past term as president and managing director of TRAINOSE SA.
Due to the special weight of the Committee, for the whole of Greek society, I would not like my status to be used as an alibi to damage the integrity and impartiality of the Committee’s work and conclusion.
For this reason, I will not take up my duties in the Commission and I remain at the disposal of the state, as far as I can be useful because of my specialty.”
In the place of Mr. Ziliaskopoulos in the Special Committee to investigate the causes of the accident in Tempi, Mr. Christos Pyrgidisrailway professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
