8th Optimist Cup-Trophy Nikos Sarikavazis: “Gold” for N.O.P.F.

With the participation of 188 young sailors, aged 10-16, from 28 groups in Greece, the United States of America, Spain and Cyprus, the curtain fell on Sunday on the premises of the organizer Nautical Club of Palaio Faliro, the curtain on the “8o Optimist Cup Nikos Sarikavazis”.

The event was hosted for 3 days (24-26/2) in the waters of Falirikos Ormos and received excellent marks both for the performance of tomorrow’s Olympic Games at sea and on land at an organizational level.

For another year, the Nautical Club of Palaio Faliro was named the multi-winner team, while the leading sailor of the event was, as last year, Yiannis Tournis of the same Club.

With their presence at the closing ceremony, they honored the “8th Optimist Nikos Sarikavazis Cup”,

• The Minister of Citizen Protection, Mr. Takis Theodorikakos,

• the Mayor of Palaio Faliro, Mr. Giorgos Fostiropoulos,

• the President of the Hellenic Sailing Federation, Mr. Niki Anastasiou,

• and the MP of New Democracy, Mr. Dionysis Hatzidakis.

On Saturday, February 25, after the completion of the second day of the games, the Paralympians and World Champions Vassilis Christoforos and Theodoris Alexas, were at the premises of the Nautical Club of Palaio Faliro and had the opportunity to talk to the young sailors and answer their questions.

On Sunday, February 26, fans of the sport had the opportunity to watch live streaming from the NOPF YouTube channel, the most critical sailing races, offered by the Hellenic Sailing Federation.
