SYRIZA speaks of “fatal inaction on the part of the government” when commenting on its OSE announcement.

Specifically, in his statement he states: “The OSE today confirms with its official announcement that after the fire of July 2019, the Larissa station could only monitor trains for a distance of 5 km after the station. While until then it had the possibility of monitoring from Larissa Station to Neos Poros, i.e. the entire range of the area where the two fatal trains moved in opposite directions for several kilometers on the same line. More specifically, the announcement of the OSE states: ‘After the fire of July 2019 in the Zahari area of Larissa, the cables and equipment were destroyed and the remote control of Larissa went completely out of order and was abolished».

Condensing, he notes: “In short, if the damage to the cables and equipment had been repaired after the July 2019 fire, we would have avoided the tragic accident. We await, after the confirmation of the OSE, a formal justification for the fatal inaction on the part of the government».
