Incredible bestiality took place on New Year’s Day in Naoussa that deprived the life of the blind dog who managed after 10 kilometers of adventure to leave the homeless shelter and be close to the man who took care of her.
The moving adventure of the blind dog in the village of Hariessa which gave a strong message of love and courage as ThessToday.gr had written on New Year’s Eve, unfortunately had a tragic end.
On New Year’s Day, the little dog was poisoned – from food that contained poison – a few kilometers away from the house of the president of the village of Hariessa, Dimitris Sidiropoulos, where he had found care and love. Despite the unceasing efforts of Mr. Sidiropoulos and his colleague to cure her, she could not bear it and died on Sunday afternoon in the hands of the president and his wife.
“On New Year’s Eve he left the house with another of our dogs as they used to do every day and after a while they returned. However, on New Year’s Day, both returned poisoned. I realized that something was wrong as they were late coming home and so, I looked for them in the neighborhood but could not find them. The blind dog reached our house and as soon as he entered the yard he fell down. We tried to save her with vaccines, antibiotics, vitamins, serums and injections, but she did not manage to stay alive for only two days “, said Dimitris Sidiropoulos sadly to ThessToday.gr.
There are many incidents with nests in the village of Hariessa
“Unfortunately, there are many in the village who poison stray dogs, mainly dogs. In fact, in the last month we have had five similar incidents in the village. These are all unpleasant events and we will not leave it like that. The specific dogs did not bother anyone and nevertheless they were poisoned. I have already spoken with the mayor of Naoussa in order to take similar actions. “But the municipality alone is not enough to realize that we should not have pets and then leave them on the street and poison them or abuse them”, explains the president of the village.
The mayor of Naoussa is suing
Shocked by this heinous act which is now a common to everyday phenomenon in our society, says the mayor of Naoussa, Nikolas Karanikolas and speaks of a vicious circle without end. “They put nests in the village of Hariessa and unfortunately this dog, which reached the man who took care of her in distress, ate one of them and the president could not save her. We will proceed with lawsuits against strangers but the problem is not solved with this process. “We do not have information about those responsible for these acts, but they must definitely stop poisoning dogs,” he said.
At the same time, he stressed that the law on dog chips and their neutering should be implemented throughout the country in order to reduce stray animals and their cases of abuse, while serious management by the state is required.
The mayor’s plans regarding the homeless and their abuse include an information and public awareness campaign and the acceleration of the construction of an animal shelter, of European standards in Naoussa. “The studies are over and by February we will be ready to tender the construction of the shelter in the area,” said the mayor.
