A family has chosen to turn a vehicle into… a house. These days, Oliviev, Kongkea and their 8-year-old son Sovanna are at home in Thessaloniki
One truck which was converted into a house and which has none of the comforts of a modern apartment to envy, meets the needs of a family who travels with it around the world.
The French Olivier together with his wife Kongkea originally from Cambodia and their 8-year-old son Savannah, they have made the decision to change their lives.
“We decided to change our lives and live in Cambodia. But 4 years ago we made the decision to take another step” says Oliviev whom we met outside the huge and impressive vehicle which they have turned into a normal house!
“We are a family and we decided to have a big vehicle, travel around the world and be comfortable,” he added.
First time in Greece, three days in Thessaloniki
The family of Oliviev and Kongkea arrived yesterday in Thessaloniki and as they typically told us, from the first hours of their stay in the city, they were pleased with the people and of course with the weather, since the sun bathed the huge vehicle – their home.
They have already been in Greece for three months, “we went to Crete, Peloponnese, Athens, Delphi, Meteora and today (s.e. yesterday) we are here in Thessaloniki” Oliviev told me, while before arriving the previous one they had also passed through Neos Poros of Pieria.
It is the first time they visit Greece. “I’ve wanted to come to Greece for many years, but until now I hadn’t been able to,” says Oliviev, who is now retired, adding that they really liked everything they saw comparing our country to… Spain.
Car… all weather
The car is huge. It is 10.50 meters long, 12 meters including the equipment in the back for the reserve. Six huge wheels and 7 solar panels on its roof producing 1,600 kilowatt hours.
“We started 16 months ago from Ukraine (p.s. the vehicle has Ukrainian license plates), crossed Europe, after Thessaloniki we will continue to Turkey” said Oliviev and Kongkea and then possibly go to Armenia, Iran, Iraq, Palestine. “We want to go to the rest of the continents, Africa, America, etc.” they added.
Their home vehicle is a mission car that withstands all weather conditions, from -40 degrees Celsius to +50 degrees Celsius, from Alaska to the desert.
