There are so many options for brunch in São Paulo that it’s hard to choose. From artisanal bakeries to restaurants with alcoholic menus, the morning meal is also found in the gardens of luxurious hotels and in concert halls.

See below an itinerary through the capital of São Paulo that incorporates the gastronomic —and budget— diversity of the city. There are options inspired by the cuisine of the United States, France and Japan, with light or robust dishes, offered in cafes, pastry shops and bistros in all regions.

WEST ZONE

Bakery Luce

Offers eight combos. If you go alone, it’s worth ordering the Buongiorno (R$72), with grilled bread, scrambled eggs, chia overnight with almond milk or fruit salad and coffee. For doubles, the Double Trouble (R$180) is an option with two drinks, strained coffee, cake or cookies, as well as sandwiches. The breaded eggplant baguette with pesto and buffalo mozzarella stands out.

Lady confectionery

It brings the traditional buffet (R$ 135 per person) with bread, yogurt, scrambled eggs, red fruit dishes and cake. It offers croissants, salmon millefeuille, brioche, honey bread and chocolate eclair. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and juices accompany the treats. CENTER

Blue Note

Concert hall with buffet for R$91 (individual). There are 40 dishes at will, from tables with cold cuts and appetizers to those with cakes, cornflakes and coconut. There are even less obvious options like coalho cheese with cane molasses. Tables are spread out on the verandas and in the interior room, with live jazz. It is not necessary to reserve a table.

botanist

Brings two main combos with flavors from the hinterland. The first (R$45) offers cassava bread, couscous with olive oil and fresh tomato, banana cake and green juice. The second option (R$71) is more robust. It involves cheese and cassava bread, plantain with chestnuts in molasses and couscous with egg. Vitamin and coffee complete the dish.

EAST ZONE

Marie Marie Bakery

It’s brunch to give away or eat at home, with baskets in two sizes. The small one (R$280) has ten items. They are savory like croissant, red wine bread, salami, brie and green olive bread with cheese. And also sweets, like granola, praline, brownie. Accompanying the set is a baby Chandon Rosé. Large baskets cost R$300.

French menu (R$169) by chefs Thiago Cerqueira and Luiz Emanuel opens with bread, leek soup and fish tartare. Then, you choose between three options. Breakfast, with egg meurette (red wine sauce, brioche, mushrooms and bacon) or sandwiches. The main dish option offers everything from “penne à la parisienne” to beef carpaccio. Finally, there are desserts, such as brioche french toast with vanilla cream. To drink, non-alcoholics are at ease.

NORTH ZONE

Panni Artisanal Bakery

In the padoca style, the menu has a simple combination (R$ 39), which includes typical breakfast dishes. It also has an intermediate option (R$ 69), with an extended menu with a mix of breads, cakes and juice. But if you want a version with everything the bakery offers, the choice should be the Brunch Premium (R$ 109), with two glasses of wine.

Cozy Coffee House & Bistro

Intimate, offers combined for R$ 80 (individual). On the table, naturally fermented bread, to be combined with butter, jam, garlic confit and parma ham. Creamy scrambled eggs round off the robustness of the menu. For drinks, choose between natural juices or coffee.

SOUTH ZONE

Pato Rei Berrini (Coffee Brewers)

Asian verve combo is assembled with four items (R$ 81). It starts with the drink, from ginger ale to coffees. Afterwards, start with okonomiyaki (Japanese pancake) or karepan (curry bread), in the egg version. For the main course, variations of breaded bao, falafel or chicken. Finally, cheesecake with miso caramel or yuzu tiramisu.

Tangará Palace

Luxury experience in the hotel garden (R$ 480), starts with homemade bread accompanied by charcuterie, cheese, oysters, butter and jam. Then main courses such as tuna carpaccio with orange vinaigrette. For dessert, it is worth ordering the mascarpone cream verrine with red fruits. Everything on the menu is all-you-can-eat.
