Recruitment and improvement of remuneration claim, among other things, the employees of the Energy Regulatory Authority who announced today mobilizations aimed at strengthening the Authority.

Occasion the passing of the bill by which the Authority’s powers are extended to the water and waste sectors, the representatives of the Workers’ Association stressed in a press conference that the staff are not opposed to the assumption of the new powers, which is a government decision, but “the logical approach is to strengthening the foundations of an Authority before adding new burdens”.

According to the data they provided, the regular staff today corresponds to 22% of the positions foreseen by the organizational chartn (46 employees against 211 positions). At the same time in recent years there is a leakage of permanent staff for positions in the market or in European organizations where the salaries are higher, while the last recruitments of permanent staff were made in 2013 based on a competition announced in 2008. In addition, employees hired with IDOH status systematically leave for the market.

“The European rule and the principle applied in the Member States is that of maintaining the remuneration of the staff of the Regulatory Authority at a level sufficiently competitive to avoid leakages of the Regulator’s executives to the market, as it has been realized that these leaks on the one hand weaken the Regulator, on the one hand, they contribute to the transfer of special know-how before the market, with potential consequences for equal competition”, they stressed.

Finally, they announced that if there are no provisions for strengthening RAE, they will proceed with a complaint to the EU for violation of the relevant Directive.
