A meeting for the smooth conduct of the Playoffs of the Hellenic Football Championship was held in the morning under the Minister of Citizen Protection, Takis Theodorikakos, with the participation of the Deputy Ministers of Citizen Protection, Lefteris Economou and Culture and Sports, Lefteris Avgenakis.

The topics discussed were:
– The safe transport of the teams to the stadiums
– Multiplication of pre-checks to prevent dangerous objects from entering the stadiums
– The checks in the grounds of the stadium before each match and
– Movement of fans.

Theodorikakos: “Let everyone take their responsibility”

The Minister of Citizen Protection asked the PAE representatives to implement all the statutory security measures to maintain order and deal with the phenomenon of violence inside and outside the stadiums in the Playoffs.

The minister put all the PAE representatives in front of their responsibilities, stressing that it is a common challenge and responsibility to run the games of the most competitive league in recent years and above all, safety in the stadiums is a demand of society.

“We must all together, in cooperation with the world of football, do everything to ensure order and calm in the remaining matches of the championship”, emphasized the Minister of Citizen Protection and added:

“The State, the Ministry of Citizen Protection, the Hellenic Police, we are doing our duty and surely the PAE, the Football Societies, must do the same, assisting in the checks and security measures at the stadiums that we have decided, in order not to there will be phenomena of violence. We owe it to the people who want to enjoy the games, we owe it to the Greek society, which asks for calm and safety and for that everyone must take their responsibilities”.

Avgenakis: “We all want quality football, without violence”

The Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports Lefteris Avgenakis stated: “On the initiative of the Political Leadership of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, a very interesting and useful meeting was held in view of the playoffs. We all want good quality football, without violence”.

The meeting chaired by Mr. Takis Theodorikakos was also attended by the General Secretary of Public Order Mr. Michael Karamalakis, the president of the Permanent Committee for Combating Violence Mr. Achilleas Tsichtis (DEAB), the Chief of the Hellenic Police, Lieutenant General Konstantinos Koumas and the Deputy Chief Hellenic Police Lieutenant General Lazaros Mavropoulos
