The criminologist spoke to the packed auditorium of the Law School of the Demokriteio University of Thrace Sakis Kehagioglou at the invitation of DAP NDFK Komotini. The topic of his speech was “International Crime: Jurisprudence and Domestic Legal Order”. The event started with the address of the head of DAP Komotini, Nikos Argyrouwho, welcoming the speaker, referred to his personality and career and congratulated him on the title of Lord Guardian of the Great Church of Christ, which he was recently awarded by Ecumenical Patriarch Mr. Bartholomew.

The speaker analyzed the legislation on crimes committed by Greeks abroad, also referring to cases that have recently been in the news. He also analyzed the jurisdiction of the Greek courts regarding specific categories of crimes, as well as issues related to the extradition of criminals. Despite the fact that it was not related to the topic of his presentation, the speaker was requested by students to refer to the recent Tempe accident, due to his participation as head of the civil action in the tragic accident of Tempi in 2003 with the students from the high school of Makrohori Imathia. Mr. Kehagioglou referred to the crime of disrupting the safety of transportation and emphasized that the trials held in Volos and Larissa created jurisprudence, because for the first time in Greek judicial history the courts accepted the claims of the families of the victims, found the defendants guilty of felony in a fatal traffic accident and imposed multi-year prison terms on the driver and owners of the fatal truck.
After the end of the speech there was a long discussion, where many students submitted questions to the speaker. They attended the event over 400 students all years of the Law School of Komotini.
