The cycle of the examination of prosecution witnesses in the trial – before the Mixed Jury Court of Thessaloniki – of the 12 defendants for the murder of 19-year-old Alkis Kampanos and the wounding of his two friends closes today.

The last of the total of 26 witnesses of the indictment testifies a friend of ‘Alkis who was in the company of the five young people, when the wild fan attack took place, in the early hours of February 1, in the area of Harilaou.

The 20-year-old was lucky because he managed to escape the scene of the attack (as well as another member of the same group), jumping from the steps of the apartment building where the five friends had gathered and were unsuspecting talking.

The same witness (twin brother of one of the two injured) ran towards Papanastasiou Street asking patrons of an adjacent tavern to call an ambulance.

After the testimony of the specific witness, the court is expected to rule on a series of requests that were made in the previous meetings by the defense lawyers, such as, for example, that police officers from the Sports Violence Sub-Directorate of Thessaloniki be called to testify.
