The complete ban on the trade of wild animals and exotic species is proposed to the government and the relevant ministries Panhellenic Philanthropic Federation on the occasion of the case with the abandoned white tabby, a case that has aroused public interest in the fate and treatment of wild animals in our country.

The Panhellenic Philanthropic Federation, after a meeting it had with the officials in the Department of Wildlife and Game Management, in the Ministry of the Environment, requested the prohibition of the trade of these species in our country, as was recently done successfully in our neighboring Italy.

At the same time, the Panhellenic Philanthropic Federation, through its president Irini Molfesi, in a letter to the authorities of the Ministry of the Environment, expressed the position that the best thing for the white tiger would be, after assessing its state of health, to call a specialized veterinarian from the foreign, who has knowledge of the care for such animals, big cats, while he did not rule out the possibility, if the suffering animal finally survives, to be transferred for treatment abroad.

However, the Panhellenic Philanthropic Federation in its letter to Nik. Bokari, who is in charge of the Ministry of the Environment, emphasizes the need to protect the animal in any case and not to turn, as he says, into an object of experimentation.

“The point is that the animal, receiving the best possible treatment and care, should not, however, become an object of experimentation. The evaluation of the situation and the limits of the therapeutic intervention should move along this line”, emphasizes the Panhellenic Philanthropic Federation.
