What changes are coming to make it easier for citizens – What is planned for those who have entered into a cohabitation agreement
Page change for the censuses which are digitized, while at the same time the procedures related to their preparation, maintenance and updating are modernized.
This is provided for, among other things, by the Presidential Decree (PD) that he signed the Minister of the Interior Makis Voridiswhich concerns amendments to the Code of Ordinances for censuses.
Particularly, the auxiliary census books are abolished which up until now was required to be kept, in paper form, by each municipality and the digitization of the census is established, which is part of the integrated information system “Register of Citizens” of the Ministry of the Interior.
In this way, all town registers of the municipalities are unified under a single digital “umbrella” and the search for information becomes faster, simpler and clearer.
At the same time, with the new PD all the elements are specified which must be included in the census and copies of civil partnership deeds, certificates of guarantor relatives and decisions on acquisition of Greek citizenship are now added to the family files.
In addition, in order to eliminate the phenomenon of any double registrations in the electoral rolls, a valid registration is now considered the latest time entry.
In addition, the respective mayor is given the possibility to make corrections – among others, the age of the citizens, regardless of gender – as well as filling in information and registering changes in civil status.
Finally, citizens who have entered into contracts are also given the opportunity cohabitation agreement to repopulate, while still allowing former cohabitants to regain their original popularity after the dissolution of the cohabitation pact.
