POEDIN: 2,500 sanitary workers in quarantine – One on top of the other on duty

by

The dramatic situation that prevails in the country’s hospitals due to the pandemic wave, describes the president of POEDIN Michalis Giannakos, stating that at the moment 2,500 health professionals are in quarantine as they are positive for coronavirus.

According to Mr. Giannakos, patients and citizens come en masse to hospitals mainly to undergo a coronavirus test, a fact which, as he said, is indicative of the dissolution of primary care.

“They are waiting for stacked patients and citizens, some to do the test, others to be examined without measures with the risk of sticking to each other. “They are scurrying in the corridors of the hospitals, waiting for the results, spreading the virus inside the hospital”, complains the president of POEDIN.

According to Mr. Giannakos, the picture regarding the admissions to hospitals that were on duty yesterday is the following:

People’s Hospital: From 22 admissions that took place in previous on-duty yesterday and until Thursday morning, 52 patients were admitted with coronary artery disease.

Nice Hospital: About 35 patients were admitted with coronary artery, the beds were filled and patients were sent to other on-duty hospitals.

Papageorgiou Hospital: 41 patients with coronavirus were admitted. The Covid ICUs with a capacity of 25 beds are full and 10 patients with coronary artery are intubated in MAF (Intensive Care Unit).
