Cinema burglary was carried out by unknown persons yesterday March 31 at Folklore Museum of Stemnitsa in Arcadia, while the striking thing about the case is that some of the stolen goods seem to have reached Monastiraki, and are being sold as antiques.
According to police sources, the people in charge of the Folklore Museum reported to the Tripoli security that unknown persons, after breaking the door of the first floor and cutting the cable from the telephone device, went up to the second floor where the exhibits of the museum are located and removed at least eight carnations which date from the time of the younger Greek civilization of the 19th century. The security of Tripoli sounded an alarm, while museum officials are carrying out check on the remaining exhibits, as in traditional costumes, textiles, embroideries, old photographs, and generally different decorative and utilitarian objects that are housed in the Folklore Museum in order to determine if other things have been stolen.
However, it creates an impression that information has reached Attica security that some of the exhibits are being sold for a hefty fee in antique shops in Monastiraki.
Investigations by the authorities are in full progress to identify both the stolen goods and the perpetrators.
