The gazette “came out” for the Joint Ministerial Decision (JMA) concerning the closure of the beach in his bay Shipwreck in Zakynthosfor this summer season.

The MOU is signed by the Minister of Citizen Protection, the Minister of Shipping and Island Policy, the Minister of Tourism and Climate Crisis.

Specifically they state:

“a) The prohibition of access and approach to the “Prohibited Zone” and the “Controlled Access Zone”, as they appear in the Annex accompanying this document, and are mentioned in the dated 09.03.2023 with a.p. 550/9.3.2023 Risk Assessment in the Zakynthos Shipwreck Area of ​​the OASP.

b) the prohibition of access to the top part of the slope and to the plateau that exists in front of the slope and is bordered by a visitor access road, with a prohibition limit of 10 meters from the edge of the slope.

c) The exceptional approach to the free access zone as shown in the attached annex, and mentioned in the dated 9.3.2023 under no. 550/9.3.2023 risk assessment in the Zakynthos Wreck Area of ​​the OASP, which includes the area defined by the DG points and has as a limit the wreck of the “Panagiotis” ship, exclusively and only in cases of emergency and assistance.

d) The prohibition of traffic and the approach – anchoring of any floating motorized or non-motorized means, as well as the prohibition of taking a sea bath by bathers in the marine area inside the imaginary line which joins the two (02) ends (north and south) of “Navagio” Cove, Zakynthos. The approach to the said sea area is allowed only in cases of emergency and assistance.

e). The prohibitions of access and approach and the conditions of controlled access herein apply for the period from the issuance of this present and until 31.10.2023 for the purpose of protecting visitors during the tourist season”

Regarding the penalties for the violators, it is pointed out that: “The violators of this, regardless of criminal or civil responsibilities, are also subject to administrative sanctions in accordance with article 157 of the n.d. 187/1973 (A’ 261) and whose provisions, in terms of the amount, the type of sanction and the manner of their imposition, are applied accordingly by the personnel of the Greek Police.”
