With the sequence of solemn Vespers in the Holy Metropolitan Church of Agios Spyridon in the Holy City of Messolonghi the brilliant events to celebrate the 197th anniversary of the Exodus of the heroic Guard of the Free Besiegers continued on Saturday afternoon.

The Most Reverend Bishop of Tegea, Mr. Theoklitos, concelebrated and the Metropolitans of Demetrias and Almyros, Mr. Ignatios and of Aetolia and Acarnania, Mr. Damascenes concelebrated.

The procession followed, led by the Icon of the Exodus, the Cross of Blessing of the Bishop of Roga and the Holy Banner, from the Holy Temple to Garden of Heroes. The High Priests, the Holy Clergy and the authorities of the place participated in the holy litany, while they were preceded by student delegations from the Schools of the Holy City, members of cultural and sports clubs of the Prefecture of Etoloakarnania and other Prefectures, philharmonic and honorary orders of the three Corps of the Greek Army.

In the Garden of Heroes, in front of the Tomb, where the bones of the Fallen of the Exodus are kept, a memorial service was held and wreaths were laid by the representatives of: the Greek Government, the Hellenic Parliament, the Embassy of Switzerland in Greece as an honored country, the Armed Forces Forces, the Security Forces, the Judiciary, the Academy of Athens, the Region of Western Greece, the Mayor of Tripoli, as an honored twinned Municipality and the Mayor of the Holy City of Messolonghi.

The Mayor of the Holy City of Messolonghi, Mr. Kostas Lyros, delivered the eulogy of the day and immediately after, the reenactment of the blasting of Mayor Christos Kapsalis took place, with the participation of the choir of the Spiritual Center of the Municipality of the Holy City of Messolonghi, under the direction of the Artistic Director, Mr. Spyrou Holeva.
