The advocate of the 15-year-old student who was beaten and brutally bullied inside his school spoke about the incident to ERT, making it known that the Juvenile Prosecutor referred the file again to the Juvenile Sub-Directorate of GADA for further investigation.

When asked how the 15-year-old is doing today, Mr. Spyros Dimitriou replied: “The child is in post-traumatic stress. However he went to school and the reception is that which is usually given to one within many quotations. Because even though he has suffered this behavior, he is being bullied by the perpetrators as the whistleblower who mobilized a legal process to punish them.”

“The child with his mother went to the police station in order to make a simple record of the incident and in view of the savage beating he had suffered, the police moved ex officio. In other words, the child still did not speak,” he noted.

As the lawyer said, the family will not stand so purely on the possible punishment of the juvenile perpetrators.

“Juvenile perpetrators are not responsible even until they turn 15 years old for their actions and any punishment they receive from the Court will be some therapeutic measures that will be put in place for their better development. What the family will be investigating are the criminal responsibilities of the supervising teachers and the school board. Because it appears from the case file that there were other similar incidents.

Therefore, it should be investigated whether or not the school was taking measures for the protection and safety of the children, but above all for the correct information and guidance of the children who are being treated as perpetrators and why these incidents happened” noted Mr. Dimitriou.
